Apart from the monthly lecture programme, the SES organises a number of other activities including:
Visits
to Egyptological museums and other sites of interest in the UK
Egyptological courses and study-days
Expeditions to Egypt. SES members have played a major role in the Eastern
Desert Survey, the series of expeditions which, since 1997, has been exploring
Egypt’s Eastern Desert to find and record predynastic rock art. The SES has
also made expeditions to the Sinai and to Amarna.
Teaching visits to schools
Social
Events
The SES believes in social events as well as educational ones, the main party
of the year being a barbecue - which, in 2001, descended into pantomime.
