June 21, 2008 – Worthing
An Amarna Study Day with Professor Barry Kemp,
Chairman of the Trustees of the Amarna Project and Amarna Trust
A series of lectures from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m (Teas/coffees available from 9.45 a.m.)
Professor Kemp will focus on the factors governing the life of the people in the city — their accommodation and relationship with their patrons, the involvement of many in small-scale industry, their local spiritual concerns and their state of health. Thus Amarna will be used as a means of exploring what life was like in 14th Century BC Egypt with the hope that people can, to some extent, relate this to their own experiences of being human and alive!
Tickets cost £20 for SES members and £25 for non-members. The prices include a £5 donation per ticket, which will go directly to the Amarna Trust.
In addition we are offering an optional lunch which may be purchased with your ticket.
Lunch will comprise various sandwiches and a selection of fresh fruit for £4 per head. We can provide a vegetarian option, if advised at the time of booking.
Please note: Lunch for the study day MUST be ordered and paid for with your ticket booking. Spare lunches will NOT be available to purchase on the day. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch.
To book tickets, contact Malcolm Gay, 6 Hamble Gardens, Worthing, West Sussex BN13 3NH. Tel: 01903 260742.
